Library
WPAS invites and encourages the public to use our library and welcomes
individuals to stop in to browse or do research. WPAS Library materials (except
for REFERENCE materials) may be checked out. The loan period is three weeks.
Users are responsible for the pick-up and return of all materials borrowed.
Anyone who lives outside of the Seattle metropolitan area or who cannot visit
the library personally may have materials mailed to them. Postage costs are the
responsibility of the requester.
The WPAS Library contains over 1400 books and manuals, plus over
200 magazines and newsletters. In addition to providing basic information on the
full range of protection and advocacy topics (Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation,
Aging/Elderly, Education, Employment, Health and Medical, Mental Health,
Recreation and Cultural Enrichment, Transportation, etc.), the WPAS Library
collection includes motivational and self-help materials prepared by individuals
and groups directly affected by disability issues, and pamphlets and flyers
describing various public and private social and human services.
Such hard-to-find disability-centered resources as the National Disability
Law Reporter and the Individuals
with Disabilities Education Law Reporter also are available for review in
the library. The WPAS Library maintains current editions of the Revised Code
of Washington Annotated , the Revised Code of Washington ,
the Washington Administrative Code, and Rules of Practice for both
state and federal courts in Washington.
